Class of the New School Board
Let's be real—this upcoming election is actually a massive deal. For the first time ever, the whole school board is being elected. We're 8th graders, and we're like, serious about having a good future and stuff. The adults who win these seats across all 20 districts and citywide are literally going to be in charge of our high school years. So, to help everyone see who is stepping up to run our schools, we pulled actual candidate names straight from official Ballotpedia rosters and assigned each of them an official high school yearbook superlative.

Wait... Why are the Districts Numbered 1A, 1B, 2A, 2B?
If you are looking at these races and thinking, "Why can't we just have districts 1 through 20 like normal human beings?" — trust us, we agree completely.
Here is how we ended up with this alphabet soup: During the historic transition from a 100% mayoral-appointed school board to a fully elected one, state lawmakers created a weird "hybrid" phase. They carved Chicago into 10 giant districts. Each district was split into two sub-districts: an "Elected" side and an "Appointed" side.
If an elected candidate won inside sub-district 1A, the Mayor was legally required to appoint their board counterpart from sub-district 1B (hence the 'A' and 'B' splits). Now that the school board is transitioning to a 20-member fully elected board (plus the 1 At-Large President), each of those split sub-districts is simply becoming its own standalone elected race.
Commentary from the 8th Grade Dev Team: This numbering system is honestly so dumb. It confuses parents, it confuses voters, and it made writing the HTML arrays for this project twice as annoying. They should just re-number the districts 1 through 20 and save everyone a massive headache.
